Bidding & Buying
"You are not authorised to view this resource."

If you try and buy an item, and get the error message that says "You are not authorised to view this resource.", then you will need to amend your profile and select the "Buyer" checkbox, under the "Additional Information" tab.

How do I bid on an item

You can either Buy It Now (if that is an option), buy clicking on the BIN Buy It Now button. Or you can click on BID Now (if this is an option) and put your maximum amount, to place a bid. this is called Proxy Bidding.

What is Proxy Bidding

Here`s how proxy biding (automatic bidding) works:

  1. When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you`re willing to pay for the item. The seller and other bidders won`t know your maximum bid amount.
  2. The system places bids on your behalf starting with the next bid increment for the auction. We`ll bid as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder. We`ll keep bidding for you until bidding reaches your maximum amount.
  3. If another bidder has placed the same bid before you or a higher maximum bid, we`ll let you know that you`ve been outbid so that you can place another bid if you want. However, if no other bidder has a higher maximum bid at the end of the auction, you win the item even if your bid doesn`t go as high as your maximum bid. You could pay significantly less than your maximum price. This means you don`t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed.

Can I bid more

Yes. At any time, you can re-bid a higher amount, even if you are still the highest bidder.

Can I retract a bid

Unfortunately, there is no integrated way of retracting a bid. You should contact the Seller immediately and let them know that you no longer intend to purchase the item.

I've won, how do I pay

If the Seller has PayPal selected as an option, you will see a PayPal logo button appear on the listing page. You can click on this and it will send you through to the PayPal website so you can pay seurely via their website. The money is transfered directly to the Seller - We do not see any details. Alternatively, if PayPal was not an option, you will need to contact the Seller directly via the listing page and ask for, either their bank details (for bank transfers), or address where you can send a cheque.
